Eco-Friendly Kids Bike Lock from Sinox

Environmental pollution and global warming are becoming increasingly severe, threatening not only our lives but also the future of our children. We realize that if we do not take immediate environmental action, it will be difficult to leave them a clean environment. This sense of mission has driven us to make positive changes in our product design. Last year, we introduced the concept of reducing resource consumption and actively implemented eco-friendly principles in the development of green locks. Through these practical actions, we hope to pass on a beautiful environment to the next generation.

Give our children the best safety protection

Every child is precious, and whether it’s belongings or environment, we always want to give them the best. That’s why Sinox has introduced a children's bicycle lock made from 85% PCR materials. PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) materials are derived from plastics collected after consumer use. These plastics come from everyday items like food containers, beverage bottles, shampoo bottles, mineral water bottles, and laundry detergent bottles. Through recycling and processing, they are converted into regenerated resin particles, which are used to create new packaging materials, furniture, and construction materials.

However, using PCR materials presents a color challenge because these materials come from used plastics, which may vary in color, and the available color options are relatively limited. Using dyes might be considered not environmentally friendly. Despite this, our team has especially considered that children prefer cute and colorful designs, so we have worked hard to overcome the color limitations to meet their preferences.

During the research and development process, the Sinox team thoroughly studied the environmental impacts of different types of dyes, particularly the differences between masterbatches and color powders. Masterbatches have significant environmental advantages over color powders. Masterbatches are granules made of high-concentration pigments, resins, and some additives. This form produces less dust during processing and use, posing less risk to the environment and workers' health. In contrast, color powders are pigments in powder form, which can easily generate dust during processing, threatening the environment and health, requiring stricter protective measures, and are prone to volatilize, causing waste and pollution.

After continuous selection and evaluation, the WL0159 children's bicycle lock ultimately adopted masterbatches, which are less polluting than color powders, meeting environmental needs and children's preferences.
